Ep 7 – Post Hoc / Murphy’s Law / Catch 22 – Three almost related topics. It’s sort of like a combo meal where an explanation of Post Hoc fallacies is the main item and why you’re wrong about Murphy’s Law and Catch 22s are the drink and side or something. It’s a tenuous analogy at best.

Ep 8 – Alcohol – The cause of–and solution to–all of life’s problems. Why alcohol really isn’t as bad as some people think.

Ep 9 – Sin-Eating – Why situations aren’t always as black or white as they seem: why you’re not saving the planet driving a hybrid, why wars aren’t always good vs bad, and why you’re a bit more of a jerk buying eco-friendly products.

Ep 16 – Compact Fluorescent Lights – Compact Fluorescent Bulbs are–by this point–not new technology, but lots of people are still wrong about them. Looking at some myths surrounding CFLs that really aren’t a concern, and why people who willingly buy CFLs still complain about them.

Ep 17 – Summer – Summer–also known as reverse winter–gets its very own episode devoted to summmertime myths. Looking at why you can burn without it being sunny, why you can get cancer without being burned, why SPF 100 sunscreen isn’t much better than 50, what the humidex means, and why your employees aren’t screwing you over taking sick days around weekends. Bonus content exclusive to subscribers: Tim and Jesse talk about sweating too much.

Ep 18 – Why We’re Wrong – As crazy as it sounds, we’ve made a few mistakes in past episodes. Reconciliation mode, activate!

Ep 22 – Grab Bag 2 – Fallacies – A smattering of common fallacies and real-world implications. Looking at the appeal to consequences, ignoring a common cause, begging the question, and the toupee fallacy.

Ep 23 – Science! pt 1 – The first of a two part interview with Dr. Massimo Pigliucci of City University New York and host of the Rationally Speaking podcast. Talkin’ all kinds of science!

Ep 24 – Science! pt 2 – The second of a two part interview with Dr. Massimo Pigliucci of City University New York and host of the Rationally Speaking podcast. Contains at least a thousand times more sound effects than our other episodes.

Ep 25 – The Good Ol’ Days – Ah, the good ol’ days, where everything was better, and I don’t need no stinkin’ podcast telling me that crime is lower, cars are safer, and music isn’t worse now. Dagnabbit. Now get off my lawn!

Ep 26 – Politics v Facts – A difference of opinion makes for a healthy debate and strong teeth and bones. But what happens when political opinion is at odds with evidence? Ep 28 – Space Myths From Outer Space! – In honour of Halloween, this week’s episode is all about misconceptions people have about NASA and the space program. With selective reverb to make things more space-y. Blasting off on space pens, NASA’s budget, and why we didn’t not land on the moon.

Ep 29 – Controversies That Aren’t – Instead of talking about actual controversies, this week is being spent talking about totally manufactured ones (aka nontroversies.) The dialogue is as artificial as the subjects are! Looking at faster than light neutrinos, vaccines and autism, satanism, and harmful Halloween candy.

Ep 30 – Right But Wrong 2 – Back again with more subjects that might be true, but not the way you think they are. Why you’re right but wrong about cellphones microwaving your head, correlation implying causation, and antibacterial substances causing superbugs.

Ep 31 – What Numbers Mean 3 – More dubious numbers and what they really mean (or don’t.) Why you’re wrong about the 1%, how many miles you get to a tank of gas, what’s in 100% oatmeal, and the freshmen 15.

Ep 32 – What’s In Common With Foreign Films and Organic Food? – What’s in common with foreign films and organic food? Probably a few things, but we’re talking about one of them today, and why you’re wrong about it.

Ep 33 – The Good Ol’ Days 2 – Back with more reasons why things now are worse than they used to be, what with the kids and being on the lawn. Why big government shouldn’t be meddlin’ in my affairs, how the kids are dumber nowadays, and why everything they do is terrifying and will send us into immorality and chaos, consarnit.

Ep 39 – Expressions – Common words and expressions that people frequently misuse or otherwise get wrong. Guaranteed to make you say either, “I didn’t know that!” or “I HEAR YOU BROTHER” all in caps. Probably.

Ep 40 – What Numbers Mean 4 – These numbers are often bandied about, but are they accurate, and what do they represent? Looking at the Apple tax and the costs of digital piracy.

Ep 41 – Winter 2 – Back with more winter topics and myths. Looking at catching and treating colds, hibernation, what causes winter, and some sub-zero car myths.

Ep 42 – Null Hypothesis – Sometimes the best explanation is no explanation at all. Looking at the null hypothesis: the zeroth law of the scientific method, and why some questions asked don’t need answers.

Ep 43 – What Numbers Mean 5 – Numbers, numbers, everywhere, and no one stops to think. Why 4K TV’s aren’t needed for your living room, why hitting another car may not be as dangerous as it sounds, and why bad stats can ruin good arguments.

Ep 49 – Health; Home; Humans, little – Why we spend and worry a bit too much on three things that all start with H. Well, the kids one is a bit of a stretch but it really helps tie the title together.

Ep 50 – Year One – A year has passed, and despite our proclamation in the first episode that we aren’t experts in anything, that isn’t strictly true. This episode we get a bit self-indulgent and let you know why you’re wrong about photography and buying a car.

    1. Hi Vicki,

.m4a allows for smaller files at higher quality over .mp3 which saves us on hosting and bandwidth as well as makes for faster downloads and better quality sound for our listeners. Most modern audio players and podcatchers will support .m4a files. Are you having issues with being able to play the episodes?
