First off, I love the “Why You’re Wrong” podcast, and I thought this was a great episode.
But I was looking up the “Battle of Isandlwana” on Wikipedia, and it said there were only 1,000 Zulu fatalities. The Wikipedia article on the “Zulu Kingdom” puts their population at 250,000 a few decades before the battle. Assuming their population did not change much, this means only 0.4% of their entire population were killed, not 10% as you said in the podcast.
I confess that I didn’t look much beyond Wikipedia, so I was curious if you could cite your sources on this and shed some more light on the battle.
Rachel, I’ve forwarded your comment along to Tim who can hopefully shed some light on this one for you.
Hey there. I really enjoyed hearing what you guys had to say about my suggestion. I liked how you fleshed it out a bit. If I should ever find myself wrong about something and I want to know why, I’ll be sure to contact you again. Though, as a general rule, I will declare all the laws of physics to be wrong before I admit that I am.
